FEATURING

surf charters banyak islands – sumatra indonesia

Surfing charters to Banyak islands, Simeulue, Nias, Mentawai and Tello on board Nauli departing from Sibolga, North Sumatra. 10 days/11 nights for USD 2,300 pp excluding airfares, we accommodate 10 -12 passengers in seven private cabins each with their own en suite toilet and shower.

This region of wave drenched Northern Sumatra is situated just north of the equator so the winds are light and variable, we don’t get the strong trade winds like down in the Bali area. Low pressure systems generated in the southern ocean between South Africa and Australia generate frequent groomed ground swells that head straight to the Banyak, Simeulue and Nias islands offering some of the best and most consistent waves in the world. We get a range of south to south west swells and different surf spots break on particular swell directions. Our local knowledge gets you to the best spots on each swell and wind direction. We have a range of waves to suit any standard of surfer riding any style of water craft.

Destinations

Philippines

More than 7000 tropical islands, clear warm water, vast coral reefs and mind-blowingly beautiful flora and fauna make the Philippines a true scuba diver’s paradise.

You can find almost every underwater adventure and experience here. At some dive resorts, shore diving on the house reef is popular, but divers can also hop on a day boat or live-aboard to access the sheer reef walls and atolls offshore.

A rich WWII history makes wreck diving the focus of areas such as Coron, off Palawan and Subic Bay. The underwater ecosystem is an epicenter of marine biodiversity with dugongs and skittish scythe-tail thresher sharks leading a cast of more than 1,200 marine species.

And topside, rest assured of a warm welcome as the friendly and relaxed Filipinos embrace visitors.

Diving highlights include the World Heritage site of Tubataha only accessible by liveaboard yacht, thresher sharks at Malapascua, macro photography of Dumaguete and Bohol and the wrecks of Coron.

Indonesia

With 17,000 islands within its borders and the world’s richest marine biodiversity, Indonesia is one of the dream destinations of the diving world. One way to explore this area is by live-aboard with itineraries covering Bali, Komodo, the Banda Sea and Raja Ampat. Alternatively some of the premiere dive resorts of the world exist in the Sulawesi area of Wakatobi. Rich in culture, history and nature, the Indonesia experience is as diverse as its diving.

For the diver, Indonesia offers a range of marine environments. Fringing reefs, sea mounts, walls, canyons, sea grass beds, white and black sand site beaches, and extraordinary critters in muck. Popular dives include thrilling current swept channels to protected lees, harboring thousands of fish. Komodo National Park, home to the famous Komodo dragon, was declared a World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986. Sulawesi, north of Bali is also an area renowned for its diving. From Wakatobi in the south to the Lembeh Strait in the north, Sulawesi has earned a reputation for its epic diving while Raja Ampat is on the cutting edge of pristine dive regions being explored.

Pacific & Indian Oceans

Scuba diving in Asia Pacific can take you to areas that host a greater variety of marine life than anywhere else on earth. You can dive in the South China Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, or submerge in the area where these waters mix to form the epicenter of biodiversity – The Coral Triangle. Wreck diving on historic shipwrecks, wall diving on offshore pinnacles from a liveaboard yacht or shore diving on a house reef are all possibilities when diving in Asia. The diving choices are as vast and exciting as the countries in this region such as Thailand, Burma, Maldives, Palau, Fiji and Truk.
